Most pharmacists are eager to help these patients, but many lack knowledge or experience in how to engage in these difficult conversations.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Pharm-S.A.V.E.S. covers seven topics:<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"biglist\">\n<li>Suicide: the scope of the problem<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"emphasize\">S<\/span>igns: how to recognize suicide warning signs<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"emphasize\">A<\/span>sk: how to ask about suicide<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"emphasize\">V<\/span>alidate: how to validate feelings and encourage open conversation<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"emphasize\">E<\/span>xpedite referral: how to help patients quickly get the help they need<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"emphasize\">S<\/span>et a reminder: how to follow up<\/li>\n<li>Example scenarios of patients with suicidal behaviors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<br>\n<h2>At the end of this course, you should be able to:<\/h2>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Identify the signs of suicide <\/li>\n<li>Ask patients if they are contemplating suicide <\/li>\n<li>Refer patients to the Crisis Line <\/li>\n<li>Access additional local resources for suicide prevention <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"directions\">\n\n<h3>Navigation<\/h3>\n<p>This course is divided into three modules, along with a summary and extensive resources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Module 1: Why Me?<\/li>\n<li>Module 2: What Can I Do?<\/li>\n<li>Module 3: How Does It Work?<\/li>\n<li>Summary<\/li>\n<li>Referral Tool and Resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can proceed through the modules in any order, though a linear progression is recommended. Use the tabs at the top of the screen to move from one module to another.
