This module was made possible by an AHEC Campus Innovation Grant from the NC AHEC. The module is a collaborative, grant-funded effort between the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

The module teaches residents how to engage in shared decision making with their adolescent patients and their parents about pain treatment options. Content focuses on how to convey the risks and benefits of pain treatment options and how to address concerns in a way that is sensitive to the needs of adolescents and their parents.

A team of teen advisors and subject matter experts helped develop the module’s content. The Advisory Team included: Brian Antono, Seth Bellamy, Terry Bellamy, Kathleen Bradford, Delesha Carpenter, Alice Elio, Brent Johnson, Gabriela Jones, Montana Montiel, Greene Shepherd, Kathleen Thomas, and Courtenay Wilson.

The module was produced by the MEDIA team at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill.
